More work on the floors...

We spent another weekend tearing out carpet and built in cabinets getting ready to lay the hardwood floors in our house. Every once in a while Shaun and I look at each other and wonder what we have gotten ourselves into, but then remember how wonderful the finished product will be. We had to do a bit more demo than we originally thought, but all in all things are starting to take shape. We only have a few more prep steps to complete and then we will begin laying the floors.

The hallway without carpet, tack strip, or staples!
All the colors on the wall are from behind a set of built-ins that we took out. We are responsible for the greens, but not the black, orange, and rust. This is the future home of the piano and new shelving.
There used to be cabinets and a desk area here, but since we plan to make this wall an island someday we thought we better lay the floor as it will be then.
Last, but not least, this is an example of what our floor will look like. We are so excited!

A Visit With the Harrisons!

Our friends Sarah, Jeremiah, and Abby came to visit in early April. The kids had so much fun together. They played and played. It was the perfect visit!

More Action Shots From Working on the Floor

We keep moving on with the flooring project, and Jackson just keeps on helping. He has officially decided that Daddy is amazing and brave in all the work being done.

Jackson loves to help Daddy in as many ways as possible.

Okay, so help may be a liberal word to apply here, but they sure are cute!

Jackson helping with the heating vents.

This one was just too cute not to include. I love my little dude!

In this picture Daddy is under the house working on the heat vent and Jackson is talking to him. He thought it was pretty amazing that Daddy got under the house. He was worried at first, but then thought it was cool when he could hear Daddy talking and saying he was okay!

Finally Some Sunshine in Oregon!

We finally got to spend some time outside this past weekend, and boy did we have fun. First on the list in the yard was cleaning out the sandbox for Jackson. He had a blast playing in the fresh, clean sand!

There is no end to the amount of fun you can have in the sandbox.

We have a happy boy who loves to play outside!

After some tough play time everyone needs a break for a snack.

Jackson is our little strong man. Can you tell how much he loves the camera?

Some Recent Pictures of Our Silly Boy!

Jackson is pretty excited by all of the things going on at our house lately. He is always game to have his picture taken and then enjoys looking at the shot immediately. He will never understand what it was like to have to wait for the film to develop!

Raising the Living Room Floor...

And soon new hardwoods and carpet throughout the house!
Here are some pictures of the past few weeks. We have raised the living room floor to match the level of the rest of the house and we will soon begin laying the new hardwoods! What an adventure we are having!

Jackson and Daddy Hammering

Jackson thinks he is a big help to Daddy, but sometimes he takes up a lot of space. It is hard to resist his passion for all things construction related!
We got the joists in over one weekend!
Daddy and Jackson screwing down the plywood subfloor. It looks like they both know what they are doing!
And we finally have everything raised, except around the heating ducts at the end of the room. Those are coming later this week. Shaun has to go under the house!
We will continue to add more progress shots as they are available.
